The Process of Building a Small Business Accounting System
Based on the size, complexity and special needs of your business, we?ll work with you to determine the nature and duration of customizing an accounting system to meet your company?s needs. We?ll build the system with the future needs and expansion of your business in mind.
Step One:
We?ll assess the unique needs of your business.
During our initial Free Consultation, we?ll review and analyze your business infrastructure, and gather basic operational information including:

a list of the strategic activities that are most meaningful to your business and how they rank in importance.

system specifics, like who will need access and how quickly your new system needs to be up and running.

a portfolio of your goods/services including those you sell; those you buy; and any items on which you maintain inventory.

your current accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, with attention to the way you currently get paid; how you collect money; and the net terms of your invoices.

your financial reporting needs, such as the types of reports required for daily, monthly, or quarterly reporting.
Step Two:
We?ll build a system that works for you.
Based on our initial assessment, we?ll create a visual representation of how financial activities and information flow throughout your company. By analyzing this diagram, we?ll select the most appropriate Accounting System for your needs, and work with you to finalize its implementation.
Next, we?ll create your Chart of Accounts; build your items/services list; set up your company defaults; and create the settings for your vendors, customers and employees.
Upon completion, we?ll test your new system to make sure that it meets your needs, and, if needed, adjust settings to ensure that the system works optimally for you.
Step Three:
We?ll provide training and begin its implementation.
Once the system has been set up and tested, we?ll help you navigate your customized accounting system, showing you what you need to: maintain records, update information, and create key financial reports.
This marks the starting point of your new accounting process, and your beginning balance will be entered. From this point on, your daily activities will be recorded in the system, and important financial reports will be available on demand.
Step Four:
We?ll be there to support you every step of the way.
